Nebraska Furniture Mart

Nebraska Furniture Mart recently opened the Nation’s Largest Home Furnishings Store that consists of a 560,00 sq. ft. Showroom with a 1.3 million sq. ft. Distribution Center attached to it for rapid fulfillment to or customers. We had previously done business with several other companies that had helped up with design work and implementation of conveying equipment and storage facilities. When looking for a company to help NFM create a state of the art facility we interviewed and accepted proposals from several potential suppliers. PWD was chosen for many reasons one for sure was the honest straightforward approach they take to doing business. PWD throughout the entire process from design, delivery, set up and service after the install have been fantastic! You could not ask for more from a business partner. I would personally and professionally recommend PWD to everyone.

I had a need to do a quick expansion in an offsite warehouse. PWD called on me recently and thought I would give them an opportunity to quote my project. My time line was very very short (less than a week). PWD visited my facility and actually made a scaled drawing and determined the exact storage capacity for my product, quoted the project and provided an electronic version of the quote and drawing to me that day. The decision to use PWD was made and they delivered and installed the storage system on time. My operation now has the capacity needed to move forward for the next few years. They will be my go-to folks for the next project.

This summer I renovated a building to help increase the efficiency of my order filling and shipping processes. I had a rough design laid out in an excel format which I sent to Precision Warehouse Design, which they were able to take and build a schematic and parts list for. They were then able to have the order shipped and ready for install in a short time frame. PWD also contracted the installation and was able to be flexible when the renovations took longer than expected. When installation started, the crew was very professional and completed the job ahead of schedule. I would strongly recommend PWD for any similar jobs and I will use them again in the future when I start my next project.

We had a complex business segment for which we were considering an automated solution. The automation had to successfully integrate both upstream and down with critical processes and not become a constraint to production. Moving forward we realized that a simulation of the solution, including the touch points with other processes, was the best way to make a fact based decision about the automation. In our search for a firm with simulation experience in the supply chain sector we were referred to Precision Warehouse Design (PWD) from Flower Mound Texas. PWD brought years of experience and a keen understanding of material handling solutions to the table. PWD was able to provide us with a robust simulation and the ability to model differing scenarios of activity. The simulation was valuable in testing the proposed automation and presenting the system to other stakeholders. We would recommend PWD for any supply chain simulation or space planning project.

The new warehouse is working extremely well – it is an amazing step up from our previous disaster. We are super-efficient thanks to the good layout. Thank you for the assistance…

When we built our facility in 2005 we expected to get 5-7 years of use from it before needing to expand further. However, through hard work and a certain degree of luck, our business doubled almost every year for the past three years. By the end of 2008 we found ourselves operating one warehouse and three storage facilities in Texas, another warehouse in Louisiana and one more in North Carolina. In 2008 alone we shipped 29000 packages from a 4500 square foot Texas facility. It was becoming obvious to us that in order to keep our customers happy and not experience a major breakdown in service and fulfillment ability – we needed a bigger space with more advanced tools. We found a 14000 warehouse within 3 miles of our current office, but we did not want it to be just another storage unit. We needed to have a layout and equipment that would allow us to double our throughput of shipments again if need be. We had a few ideas of our own, but really wanted to see the benchmarks that professionals were using. Through Google search I came across Precision Warehouse Design (PWD). They responded to my inquiry the same day, came out to study our current business processes, visited the newly leased facility and in short order came up with a proposal that could be implemented in 30 days or less. The resulting layout had a bulk pallet rack area, medium pick shelving area and a high velocity flow rack pick area. The connectivity between these storage areas was done with some powered transportation conveyor and sophisticated zero pressure accumulation conveyor. PWD designed a very nice ergonomic workstation for the packing and manifesting areas as well with integrated FedEx scales. When we went live we were achieving over a 100% increase in throughput for orders using the same number of personnel. The design and equipment selection PWD recommended and sold us was exactly what we needed to take our growing business to the next level and beyond. I would recommend having PWD as part of your team if you really want to achieve results in your distribution operation!

We had a need to improve our receiving of small parcels into our facility. Our current “dock to stock” average cycle time was 7.1 days before the product that was received actually was placed into a bin and ready for order fulfillment. We called multiple firms to come and look at our project including a well respected “Lean Manufacturing” consulting company” to oversee the design of what was being proposed. After multiple revisions over a 5 month period we were not satisfied with the concepts from the companies that we were using to help us. We decided at the last minute to give Precision Warehouse Design a call. Literally within 4 days from the time PWD walked in the door, they took the time to understand our current process, understand our constraints, and design a solution that best fit our needs. The project was approved, purchased and installed on time and on budget. All I can say is that our operation has experienced 1 day “dock to stock” now….. very impressive. I personally received my “Green Belt” certification in lean manufacturing due to the success of this project. We love the system, it was the right solution, right price and right company to design and implement it…. I highly recommend Precision Warehouse Design to tackle any material handling project, both large and small!

We recently had a project with a very tight timeline to reconfigure a part of our production floor that was being decommissioned. After reviewing several proposals from other companies, PWD not only came through with a highly competitive bid, but they clearly understood our needs and provided the best overall solution for us. Our project included Conveyor Controls demo, electrical demo and rework, existing conveyor re-arrangement. Throughout the project they took the time to explain what they were doing, while also working with us to develop plans that minimized the impact to the rest of our operation. PWD was professional throughout the project and ended up finishing almost 2 full days ahead of our tight schedule. The efforts of PWD not only allowed us to complete the project within our timeline, but to do so within our budget. Most impressively, when an additional conveyor programming request was made after the project was complete, they provided a technician on-site within hours to make the changes we needed. PWD has an outstanding team that exceeded our expectations in every way.

Precision Warehouse Design was the last company we called for an estimate and the first ones to show up with a plan. Very responsive, our new warehouse looks great. Thank you.

PWD brought a unique talent to a need that we had when closing a 100,000 square foot distribution center. We had to deactivate, palletize and move out of the facility within a 3 week time frame. PWD became the general contractor for the skilled labor to demo our conveyor system, electrical systems, pallet rack, and enormous number of shelving units. PWD reacted quickly when we suddenly had to cut the project timeline in half. Thanks to their help we were successful and beat the deadline by a few days at a very reasonable cost.

Our business was growing rapidly and we were running out of space. We had some inefficiencies due to operations in multiple buildings as well. It was decided that we needed to consolidate and get under one roof with more space. This was a prime opportunity to design a new layout for the future of our company. Precision Warehouse Design (PWD) came highly recommended by our Commercial Real Estate Broker that we used. PWD started the process to understand our business from the inside and out to better craft a layout for our needs. This process lasted more than a year and PWD stayed in step with us the entire time. We ended up with Pallet Rack, Carton Flow Rack, to Vertical Lift Modules, and even strategically placed industrial giant fans. There were other firms that came in to assess our needs and provide proposals but, PWD’s pricing and customer service was second to none. It was a very easy choice to put trust in PWD for my distribution layout and provide all the different types of storage equipment we needed. They will be our provider now and into the future as we continue to grow. Thank you PWD, we love our new warehouse and new efficient layout you designed…. we can grow with no worries now!

Due to a growing demand to train and prepare a sector of the workforce to work in the logistics field, Precision Warehouse Design (PWD) partnered with Tarrant County College’s Corporate Services. Corporate Services (CS), a division of continuing education at the college, provides “customized” training to businesses in Tarrant County. While Corporate Services was able to provide the customized logistics training Corporate Services did not have a program catering to warehouse and distribution set up. Corporate Services searched nationwide for a company that would be able to plan, create, and implement a “mock-up” warehousing environment in order to train qualified participants in the logistics field. Luckily, PWD fit the description with their expertise. After thorough evaluation, the decision was unanimous to choose PWD to design and install Corporate Service’s logistics training warehouse. PWD brought an expertise that fit CS’ needs perfectly. PWD’s training warehouse allows an excellent training environment and provides many aspects for logistics training that one will find in the distribution environment: Racking, Shelving, Flow Rack, Conveyors, Carousels, Workstations, Manifest Stations, Packaging etc… I would highly recommend PWD for any or all of your design and equipment needs. We would love for you to visit our facility. Please give us a call at 817-515-2500 for an appointment and a tour of our facility.
